This blog was started because we both loved eating food and exploring areas of Houston. The plan was to post every week or so on this blog; as you can see, that so didn't happen. We wanted to have posts associated with a restaurants, festivals and/or events. We like going to places that are not necessarily corporate chains, but places that are great in Houston or that we have stumbled upon and just felt like we needed to try.

BRC
We had high expectations for BRC. Hmmm.. How do I say this? We were both disappointed. We started off going to BRC with a 30 plus minute wait when over half the restaurant was empty because the hostess didn't want to seat our party of 3 at a booth. The waitress was great when finally were seating. The food was sub-par. The mussels that we ordered for an appetizer were probably the best thing we ate. The lemonade was even tarter than expected. The Southern Chicken Fried Steak was nothing spectacular and had no real "uniqueness" to its flavor. The Steak on the menu with tomatoes and bleu cheese was the best entree of the three we ordered. It is one of those experiences which makes both Kris and I wonder if we want to give it another try.
Sammy's Wild Game Grill
Location: Washington Blvd near Heights Boulevard in Houston
Type of Food: Wild Game
Summary: Well Kris and I have been to Sammy's Wild Game Grill more than a few times. Sammy's is located at Washington near Heights Boulevard. Writing about the food we have tried there makes me want to go there again like ---- NOW! They have a great selection of wild game brats, hot dogs, and burgers. Each has a selection of three toppings. The pheasant brats is awesome. The pretzel bun it comes out on is great (one of the best we have both had). The sides are quite good. We both love sweet potato fries. The sauces that they have are very flavorful.
Final Thoughts: Pretty much we both agree that we haven't been disappointed any of the times we have been there. They have a good selection of drinks (alcohol and not) with multiple televisions to watch sporting events. It is quite charming that you can actually order your meal in the drive-thru if you don't want to get out of the car.
